Laura Woods left a troll who had asked if she had sex with Adebayo Akinfenwa reeling as she hit back with a savage reply.
The presenter inadvertently caused a social media storm this week when she briefly disappeared out of shot during a talkSPORT live stream. She was accused of taking drugs by viewers, to which she responded on Twitter: “Bloody hell…I’m yawning you absolute donuts. It’s a live-streamed breakfast show. Give your heads a wobble.”
Woods was then hit with another claim from a follower who crudely asked: “Is it true about you shagging akinfenwa ???” She responded: “I waited, but he was too busy with your mother.”
Wycombe Wanderers striker Akinfenwa, who hosted the Super 6 podcast with Woods, was cracked up by his colleague’s quip. He tweeted “LW is to quick for u” along with several laughing emojis.
Woods received plenty of support after the clip in which some argued she was “sniffing a line” went viral on social media. One person wrote: “Amazing how peoples heads work! Just laugh it off @laura_woodsy, let’s concentrate on beating utd tomorrow #uta”
“The @laura_woodsy trend shows the best and worst of Twitter comments that range from support & great light hearted banter to over sensitive, moronic (the donuts!) and worst of all, the pond scum who think a rude comment will get them a DM or something #giveyourheadawobble,” commented another.
A fellow fan replied: “It’s amazing how quickly something as innocent as a yawn can be turned into something far worse. and with a camera on you, I am sure people would still moan about a yawn live. People always find something to bring someone else down to their level.”
Woods, who also works for Sky Sports, has burst onto the scene as a popular presenter in recent years. She has twice been named SJA Sports Presenter of the Year for her work.
