Sebastian Vettel chases thieves on moped after items nicked

Sebastian Vettel reportedly chased thieves on a moped after he had his items nicked from his car following the Spanish Grand Prix.

The F1 legend finished 11th in his Aston Martin at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on Sunday (May 22) but had problems with his road car early this morning. According to El Periodico, he had left a window open on the vehicle after parking it outside his hotel and was then robbed around 8am local time.

A backpack with the German’s identification and AirPods was stolen. After discovering what had happened, Vettel jumped on his electric scooter and chased after the culprits.

He was following the GPS signal of his Apple headphones using his iPhone, which unfortunately led him to a dead end. The AirPods had been abandoned in a shop, with the robbers appearing to have realised they could be tracked.

The backpack and documentation remain missing, though it’s believed Vettel had no other valuables in the bag. It’s claimed local police have opened an investigation after the 34-year-old reported the incident.

The theft came a matter of hours after the race weekend had come to an end, with Vettel finishing 11th after a solid outing on race day.

He had qualified a disappointing 16th on Saturday but managed to gain five places in a drama-filled race which saw Max Verstappen win after Charles Leclerc was forced to retire his Ferrari due to an engine issue.
